Picking Combo is an acoustic duo formed by musicians Yannis Landrin and Stephen Scharmin, exploring the vibrant traditions of Latin American music. Their repertoire draws from Samba, Cuban Son, Salsa, Cumbia, Bolero, and Timba, bringing warmth, rhythm, and a festive spirit to intimate performance settings.

 

Yannis Landrin, a multi-instrumentalist known for projects such as Rayo de Son and Choro Braseiro, performs on 7-string guitar is skillfully weaving bass lines and melodies while singing both classics in the genre and original songs.

 

Stephen Scharmin, a drummer and percussionist with roots in jazz and Latin American traditions, enriches the sound with an inventive percussion setup, creating lively performances that invite audiences on a rhythmic journey.

They are both very inspired by the popular music that is beeing heard in Havana, Rio, Baranquilla and beyond.
